Personal Experiences With Wine

I have tried many different types of wine chiefly through my restaurant job. During the training period there was a crash course on pairing wines with food as well as understanding the difference between types of wine and how to read the wine list. Before starting this job I did not know anything about wine. I had only tried one type of Merlot and had sworn off of red wines. Through this job I have found that I enjoy sweeter red wines, such as the chilled Riunite Lambrusco, as well as the mixed flavors of the Seven Daughters red wines, my favorite brand of red wine. My job has definitely allowed me to try many different types of wines that I otherwise would have never heard of.

Although I do like some red wines, white wine is definitely my preference. I like Moscato and Reisling but sometimes they are too sweet and I do not like to drink them with food. Pinot Grigio is my favorite wine. I like how light it is so I usually order it with dinner. I know certain wines pair better with certain food, however I like Pino Grigio with everything. I will order it with brunch, lunch, dinner, or by itself.

Because I am on a budget I have found a few brands of cheaper wine that I still enjoy. Predominantly, I drink barefoot wine. However, when I am at home I shop for wine at Trader Joe's. They sell a lot of the same wines as other stores, but for lower prices. I look forward to trying many different types of wine in the upcoming semester. I hope that I will find more red wines that I like as well as wines that could fit into my budget.
